John Suhr began building guitars 35 years ago, driven by a quest for perfect tone. After working with Rudy Pensa in the '80s, he helped create the Pensa-Suhr guitars, building instruments for artists like Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton. His passion for tube amp design led him to work with Robert Bradshaw, creating the CAA 3+ preamps and OD100 amp. Four years later, John followed his original calling and became Senior Master Builder at the Fender Custom Shop, where he crafted custom guitars and contributed to R&D. In 1997, John founded Suhr Guitars, gaining full control over the creation of high-quality custom guitars and basses. Now, with his son Kevin, John continues to innovate and push the boundaries of guitar design.
